What is touring caravan insurance?
Touring Caravan insurance provides an insurance policy for those people who own a caravan, and gives total peace of mind that your caravan will be looked after financially, whether it’s being towed down the motorway, being slept in on a caravan site or is parked on your drive whilst you are on holiday elsewhere in November.
When you own a caravan, you can literally go and stay anywhere, and can take all of your home comforts with you. Whether it’s a trip to the Lakes District, or a long trip through Europe, you can take all the things you will need and stay in the same room every single night, wherever you pitch your caravan.
It’s a luxury you will naturally want to protect, and that’s why you should look at touring caravan insurance.
Why do I need touring caravan insurance?
Some people will wrongly argue that you do not need touring caravan insurance as many car insurance policies cover a caravan when it is being towed. Whilst this is true of some policies, the caravan stops being insured when it is no longer attached to the car, and unless you want to leave your car hooked up to your caravan for your entire trip, as well as on the drive at home when you’re not using the caravan, you will need insurance to look after it at other times as well.
The weather can be completely unpredictable, and touring caravans are not built in the same way as homes, or even static caravans. A storm or flash flood can cause untold destruction to a caravan park and the caravans in it, and without touring caravan insurance, a caravan owner could be faced with the prospect of a written off caravan, with damaged contents inside.
Caravans are also an ideal target for thieves, who can easily tell if someone is in the caravan because of the thin walls, and will often have no problem breaking in, as caravans are less secure than your home. Whilst you may not have tens of thousands of pounds of contents in your caravan, thieves will still be on the lookout for jewellery, mobile phones and laptops, all of which would be insured with touring caravan insurance.
Touring caravan insurance will also provide full insurance for your caravan while it is being towed, both in the UK and in Europe, something many car insurance policies will not provide.
