What is static caravan insurance?

Static Caravan insurance is a form of insurance policy designed to protect static caravans and their contents. Whilst a static caravan may not ever travel far because they are designed to be stored and used on one place, it will still need insurance as it will not be covered by your car insurance, which usually covers a caravan while it is attached to your car.

Static caravan insurance works in a similar way to home insurance and will cover both the actual structure of your caravan, as well as the contents inside as well.

Why do I need static caravan insurance?

There are many different reasons why you will need a static caravan insurance policy, the most obvious being that you will not always be at your caravan, and they are far less secure than an actual house. Therefore thieves will find it easier to break in, and even though you may not have your best plasma televisions in the caravan, the value of possessions in the average static caravan is still high enough to warrant an insurance policy.

It’s not just the contents of the static caravan that you will want to insure through a static caravan insurance policy. The actual structure of the caravan is worth a lot of money, and could be damaged by fire, water damage from a cracked or frozen pipe within the caravan, as well as storm damage as a static caravan is less weather resistant and sturdy than an average home.

Your static caravan insurance policy will protect you both from thieves, and from fire, water and storm damage, floods and vandalism, offering you total peace of mind that should anything happen to your caravan, financially you will be covered.

How does static caravan insurance work?

When you take out a static caravan insurance policy you will be asked to state the value of the static caravan, and the value of the contents in the caravan. It’s quite easy to give the price of a static caravan, at the price to buy new, but your contents value may vary through the year as you take things away during the winter, and have everything in the caravan with you when you stay in the winter.

It’s advisable to work out the value of your contents when you have everything there with you, as a fire or theft at this point could see you lose everything.
